Marriage Certificates

I'm starting this Topic in hopes that others with share a copy of any Marriage Certificates they might have.

W.T. Ruller & Ida Brothers’ Marriage Certificate 1870

The story I recall is that Ida was angry at William one day and ripped it up. My Dad has the original.

Note how the photos are in the wrong holes and that they are looking away from one another. They are taped in with old “scotch tape”.

Here is another marriage certificate that contains a lot of information.

Note that this wedding was between Thomas Lee and Elizabeth Towns.

The Lees are related to The Rullers through Johnathan Lee and William George Ruller being brother-in-laws.

Note that the two witnesses to this marriage are brother and sister Rullers.
William James Ruller and Elizabeth Ruller, who are both children of William George Ruller and Eliza Holgate.

I haven’t identified which Thomas Lee this was, (there were several Thomas Lee) most are related to the Rullers. This Thomas Lee and the Ruller witnesses were probably cousins. I'd appreciate any help om identifying this Lee couple.

Note also that the minister, Revd. Charles Matterly, who filled in the certificate, spelled the name Ruler with one (L), however when the witnesses signed the certificate they spelled their own names with two, (LL’s). This supports the belief that the Ruller family spelled their name with two (LL’s) but many of the general public spelled it with one (L) in error.

This certificate is a great example of an old soiled document that would benefit greatly by being "cleaned up."

Robert was the younger brother of Jonathan Lee Sr. who married Sarah Holgate. Thomas and Elizabeth moved to Manitoba along with many of their cousins and settled in the Treherne area.
